Health and Safety
Odyssey Sport 97 athletes benefit from volunteer sports medicine services donated by Saco Bay Physical Therapy.
OS97 Sports Medicine Program
Saco Bay Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy (SBPT) has developed an alliance with Odyssey Sport ‘97 to provide volunteer sports medicine services. This program has several goals:
-
To provide injury evaluation and consultation services to athletes who are injured during the season.
-
To provide injury prevention educational forums for coaches and players.
-
To serve as a consultant to the Club’s Board of Directors to help ensure safe instructional practices and playing environments.
SBPT will have a physical therapist available at the armory on a weekly basis. Injured players should inform their coach that they are injured and the coach will facilitate a meeting with the physical therapist at the armory. If scheduling a time to meet becomes difficult, the coach or parent may contact Larry Risigo at 772-2625. An appointment for a free consultation at one of Saco Bay Physical Therapy’s eight locations will be made at that time.

Safety During Electrical Storms
Odyssey Sport '97 follows State and National Referee Association guidelines for Electrical storms. The rule is referred to as the 30-30 rule. If fewer than thirty seconds elapse between lightning and thunder, get off the field and wait thirty minutes until AFTER the last thunder is heard. If you can hear the thunder but can't see the lightning, get off anyway. If you hear thunder again before 30 minutes have elapsed, then the clock to wait another 30 minutes starts all over again.
All safety precautions are the responsibility of the head coach.
